Garlic Doesn’t Just Ward Off Vampires – It Can Ward Off Vaginal Yeast Infections Too!

You’ve probably seen movie actors wearing cloves of garlic around their necks in old black and white movies in a poor attempt to ward off vampires. Did you know that garlic is an absolutely wonderful natural cure for vaginal yeast infections?

Consuming plain sugar and fruit-free yogurt (8 ounces) on a daily basis can help ward off yeast infections.  You can also use plain yogurt as a topical treatment to help ease symptoms and help fight off the bacterial infection.

If yogurt isn’t your thing or it doesn’t work, there are other natural methods of treatment you can try

garlicThat being said, eating a diet high in garlic can be beneficial too.  You can treat your yeast infection by inserting a toe of garlic or garlic tablets into the vagina every few hours as needed.  When using garlic tablets, make sure they are 100 % natural.

You can also take garlic supplements, typically available at your local health food store.  One website suggests crushing a clove of garlic and mixing it with water.  Drinking the mixture is supposed to be rather effective, but stinky!

Garlic is so effective because it kills yeast.  If you’re any kind of a bread maker, you probably know that adding garlic to the bread while the dough is rising will kill the yeast, thus ruining the bread.

When inserting a clove of garlic into the vagina as a means of treatment, make sure you are peeling away the garlic skin.  It works best if you do this treatment at night just like you do with other yeast infection treatments.  Insert the garlic into the vagina by lying on your back on a bed with your knees drawn to your chest and spread apart.  Discard the garlic in the toilet in the morning.  Be aware that inserting garlic into the vagina may cause a watery discharge.

One of the reasons this treatment method is recommended at night is because the taste of garlic will immediately travel to the mouth as soon as the garlic is placed inside of the vagina.  Many women find this to be an irritant during the day.

For more severe yeast infections, you can treat it with a higher dose of garlic.  Remove some of the vaginal discharge with a tissue.  Cut a clove of garlic in half.  Place both pieces into the vagina each night before bed and discard in the morning. Do this for up to seven days.  If symptoms do not improve, you may consider visiting your doctor or trying an over-the-counter treatment.
