Cranberries have an incredible healing quality and can be quite pleasant to eat or drink. For centuries, people have been drinking cranberry juice to kill bladder infections, but new research proves that it can kill vaginal yeast infections too!
A vaginal yeast infection can cause burning and itching in the vagina or vulva. With some infections, comes an unpleasant odor and usually there is a vaginal discharge.
Some women suffer from recurring vaginal yeast infections and so it’s important to implement daily prevention to get infections under control
For years I suffered from bladder infections. My father was an over-the-road truck driver and I spent five years on the road with him as a teenager. There were times when I would feel I had a bladder infection, but there was no doctor in sight for several days until we returned home. I learned to drink cranberry juice for two or three days along with the water I also drank and the infection symptoms would disappear before I even got close to home.
Yeast feeds off of sugar, so it’s important to drink sugar free juice when trying to treat a yeast infection. Make sure you are purchasing real cranberry juice and not juice from concentrate too.
To avoid future outbreaks you can also keep a bottle of water next to the toilet and use it to rinse off your vaginal area and your anus after going to the bathroom. The bottle should be easy to squeeze so that you can squeeze a stream of water onto the vagina.
Additionally, avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes. Yeast thrives and grows in warm and moist places. You can also implement a starch-free drying powder to help avoid moisture. Wear white cotton underwear and make sure you are changing your underwear at least once a day (more if you feel you are prone to infections and have a job where you are sitting a lot). After you have a yeast infection, run your underwear through the sanitary cycle of your washer with unscented detergent and no fabric softener. If you don’t have a washing machine with a sanitary cycle on it, you can boil your underwear in water on the stove (rolling boil) for ten to fifteen minutes.
Avoid using perfumed sprays or douching. If you are using soap on your vaginal area, it should be unscented or gentle (try baby soap if you are particularly sensitive).
It’s also important that you are going to the bathroom as well as rinsing off your vaginal area before and after sex to get rid of the juices our bodies create during lovemaking as well as any residue leftover from condoms.
